Clones
A Type of Resurrection?

Are you prepared to die? My co-author and editor of this article, Mike, died in 2005. I'm so grateful we were able to discuss the matter of death before he departed. In fact, before any of us discuss potential issues of disaster preparedness, survival or wars, we should first make sure we're ready to meet our Maker. Clearly, nothing matters more than our eternal state in the long run, does it?

If you are afraid of death itself, perhaps this short article may help you.

Cloned Pets&Jurassic Park:

We sat in front of our T.V. mesmerized. It was a business interview of a fledgling medical lab and corporation. Have you heard about the new company, "Genetic Savings&Clone?" (Seriously…I'm not joking).

Genetic Savings&Clone will clone your cat for about $50,000. They do not guarantee that your cat will have identical personality traits to your first pet because personality traits have much to do with upbringing and environment.

However, they do guarantee that their product, your cat, will be an "imprint" of your beloved donor cat, cells and all. The cloned cat will be the identical cat from your original pet's genetic material (see end notes). This is just like in the movie Jurassic Park which recreated dinosaurs from DNA harvested from blood cells.

Resurrection no longer a Leap of Faith!

Now, let's think this through: If silly scientists can clone your cat, then certainly a Supreme Being from another dimension can resurrect you.

Why not? Cloning may be part of the technology used to do this. Perhaps a tweak to the DNA here or there to counter the effects of disease or dying, and perhaps a tweak here or there to give us the ability to slip in and out of multi-dimensional space.

Hyper-Dimensions&Parallel Universe

I wonder if Yeshua was referring to a parallel universe or hyper dimensions when He said, "Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them" (Matt. 18:20)?

Did Jesus demonstrate hyper dimensional capabilities? We know that He could materialize and dematerialize while His body was still tangible (flesh and bones). We also know that he foretold the future, thus proving that He was outside of our time domain. Finally, His resurrection evidenced His mastery over the laws of physics or life and death.

Mastery over Physics Laws

In fact, there are some physicists who feel that Yeshua's resurrection body has at least 11 dimensions: nine spatial dimensions (which mathematically would allow him to rotate in and out of three-dimensional spaces), and at least two dimensions of time. (Ross 1996, 59). Someone with these physical properties should perhaps be called a Super Being!

We will be just like Him

Friends, we are promised that this is what our bodies will be like when we are resurrected and are transformed into beings like Him. We will certainly become "Super-Clones" or super beings:

"…we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is." (1 John 3:2)

We will be Transformed

"Christians who have died will be raised with transformed bodies. And then we who are living will be transformed so that we will never die. For our perishable earthly bodies must be transformed into heavenly bodies that will never die. When this happens - when our perishable earthly bodies have been transformed into heavenly bodies that will never die - then at last the Christians' blessed hope will be realized…"

Death Conquered

"Death is swallowed up in victory, O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?" (1 Corinthians 15:51-56 NLT)

The Gospel

Perhaps you have never thought of the "gospel" message as your first line of defense against disasters or terrorist attacks. But, it is. The gospel message gives you a perfect method to overcome all evils and tragedies. It is the only way to overcome the permanent disaster of death. Really, it is a simple belief system:

1. "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures." In other words His sacrificial death atoned for your sins and was prophesied in the Old Testament.

2. "He was buried." Yeshua died a real death and was properly buried. (He didn't just become unconscious).

3. "He was raised on the third day." He demonstrated His mastery over our worst problem: death.

That Yeshua died, was buried, and rose from the dead in "accordance with the Scriptures" (1 Cor. 15:3-4) means that He fulfilled detailed prophecies from the Old Testament such as those found in Isaiah chapter 53. These Old Testament prophecies were provably written hundreds of years before Christ was born.

Finally,

"…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

Belief in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is central to our Christian faith. Furthermore, now that we know our DNA could conceivably provide a type of "blueprint" for our future resurrection it is even easier to believe.

Maranatha! (Lord, come quickly)

Note: "Genetic Savings&Clone" went out-of-business. Hard economic times affected consumers' willingness to clone their beloved pets. (Thank goodness the Lord places no price tag on our coming resurrection)!
