Trusting the Lord
When Finances are Failing
Isaiah gave a message to the peoples of Judah that applies to us today. It was during a time when Isaiah preaches:
"Many houses will stand deserted, even beautiful mansions will be empty" (Isa. 5:9, NLT).
Here is what Isaiah told the people to do:
Don't Think like Them - Fear only the Lord - He will Keep you Safe
"The Lord has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. He said,
'Don't call everything a conspiracy, like they do,
and don't live in dread of what frightens them.
Make the LORD of Heaven's Armies holy in your life.
He is the one you should fear.
He is the one who should make you tremble.
He will keep you safe.'"
(Isaiah 8:11-14, NLT)
Commit Yourselves to the Lord First
"Isaiah called the people to commit themselves first to God and then to the king. For the people of Judah, fear of invasion was a constant threat. They had powerful enemies on their doorstep. Yet Isaiah said, "The LORD of Heaven's Armies…is the one you should fear. …He will keep you safe." Fear is a powerful enemy of our faith and a strong deterrent to the believer's peace of mind. Fear of war, terrorist attacks, disease, and pollution can rob us of our trust in God. God is our shelter and hiding place (4:6). Ask him to drive inappropriate fear from your heart and to help you fear only him."
