Market Crashes&Bank Failures
Coping in Scary Times

Q. The market crashes worldwide and bank failures here in the U.S. really scare me. Is there one simple thing that can help me overcome insecurity? I just can't remember many verses.

Answer:

I think my favorite concept and verse to remember when things go sour is that everything belongs to God in the first place. We don't own anything - not our 401ks, IRAs, money market funds, real estate, precious metals or foodstuffs and cars. We are just stewards of all that God owns.

I would try to memorize these two verses:

1.

"The heavens are Yours,
the earth also is Yours.
The world and all it
contains, You have
founded them."

(Psalm 89:11, NASB)

2.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6).
