“For a thousand years in your sight are like yesterday when it passes by” (Psalm 90:4 NASB).
Instability
We set our appointments and schedules according to a clock. Day after day passes. We get up, have a cup of coffee, and assume tomorrow will be like today. In essence, we expect linearity, not non-linearity.
Time a Physical Property
Yet, experts tell us that time is a physical property, subject to mass, acceleration, and gravity. It isn’t fixed. It can actually change. It is non-linear. The Bible makes it clear that God’s time is not our time. He warns us not to fall asleep or take things for granted. Just because time appears to be “the same old same-old” does not mean that it is. We change we grow up, grow old and die. So does the earth.
Non Linearity
Nothing is stable. For example, our earth once suffered a gigantic cataclysmic flood so violent it carved out the Grand Canyon. This may have occurred due to the breaking-up of ice rings around our planet, according to one theory. Ice rings might have provided a greenhouse effect which contributed to idyllic, lush tropical vegetation, longevity, and a higher concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere. We are warned that one day in the future the atoms of our universe will explode and dissolve at the end of this era (2 Peter 3:10-11). This is the ultimate non-linearity.
Atomic Clocks
Consider this: two atomic clocks, the most accurate clocks in the world located in Colorado and England, vary in time by a few nanoseconds. One atomic clock is higher in elevation than the other. So its time is slightly different than the other. Isn’t that strange?
Astronaut Time-Problem
Instability in how we experience time becomes even more apparent to astronomers. NASA has known for decades that they face a major problem with space travel. Astronauts who travel long distances at a fast speed will return to Earth younger than they should be according to our Earth time. This fits within Einstein’s theory of relativity. When approaching the speed of light, astronauts will return to earth only to find that thousands of years have passed while they have aged perhaps two years.
“Do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (2 Peter 3:8 NKJV)
3 and one-half Dimensions – Not 4
Most students are taught that humans live in four dimensions. However, we actually live in 3 and one-half dimensions . They are height, width, depth, and a dimension of time. Why only three and one-half? Because we are limited to moving forward in time. We can’t go backwards in time, yet.
He who Inhabits Eternity (Isaiah 57:15)
God exists outside of time altogether. Like a helicopter hovering above a parade, God can see the beginning and end of the parade (past and future). However, bystanders alongside the parade can only see each float as it passes by them. They cannot see the beginning or end of the parade they can only see each float as it passes by (Missler, Learn the Bible in 24 Hours, 2002).
Hyper Dimensions
Yeshua (the Hebrew name for Jesus) appeared to have moved in at least 11 dimensions in his resurrection body. Scientists such as Hugh Ross call it “hyper dimensional capabilities.” Yeshua could materialize and dematerialize while His body was tangible (flesh and bones). He could foretell the future (like a news reporter in a helicopter hovering above the parade telling bystanders what floats are coming).
Parallel Universes
Yeshua probably demonstrated nine spatial dimensions (which mathematically allowed him to rotate in and out of three-dimensional spaces) and two dimensions of time (Ross 1999). He may have demonstrated these hyper dimensional abilities when He told us,
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20).
This famous statement may be far more literal than we realize. Perhaps we exist alongside parallel universes which open up to us from time to time.
Another example tells of the Prophet Elisha’s servant who became “unglued” when he saw that an enemy had surrounded them. Elisha said to his servant,
“Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them” (2 Kings 6:16 ESV).
“Then Elisha prayed and said, ‘O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.’ So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (2 Kings 6:17 ESV).
Michael, my bio-chemist cousin, suggested that “these may be scriptural examples of an invisible parallel-universe surrounding us. This invisible universe may contribute to the ‘miracle’ or ‘angel’ stories told in special T.V. documentaries.”
Beginning & End to the Universe
Most of us were taught that the universe and time are eternal, a timeline reaching into infinity in both directions. Modern physics and astronomy say this isn’t true, however. So does the Bible. 2 Timothy 1:9, Titus 1:2, and 1 Corinthians 2:7, state that time had a beginning (“before the ages began”). Genesis 1:1, 2:4, Isaiah 42:5 and other passages relay that the universe had a beginning and will have an ultimate end.
Curled Space
Until recently, the biblical wording that “God stretched out the heavens” seemed quaint. Other puzzling passages speak of the Lord rolling up the heavens like a scroll.
“All the host of heaven shall rot away, and the skies roll up like a scroll” (Isaiah 34:4).
However, quantum-physicists now speak of space as “curled.” This phenomenon gives us gravity and other necessary physical properties of time, gravity, and dimensions. (See Isaiah 45:12 Job 9:8 Psalms 104:2).
For illustration purposes, try to unroll holiday wrapping-paper. It wants to curl back on itself. Some scientists see space the same way. The tendency for space to curl back on itself gives physical objects stability or instability with gravitational pull.
Spherical Earth & Stretched Space
“It is He who sits above the CIRCLE of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers who STRETCHES out the heavens like a curtain, and SPREADS them like a tent to dwell in.” Check Isaiah 40:22 (ESV)
Just like you stretch wrapping paper over a gift, God stretches “curled” space over the universe. Note that this passage was written during a time when people believed bizarre things. Some believed that a flat, square earth was carried on the back of a gigantic turtle or a Greek god. What a marked difference from Isaiah 40:22.
Job 26:10 says that God
“inscribed a circle on the surface of the waters, at the boundary of light and darkness.”
Black Hole
Can light and darkness coexist? Yes. Michael explained that they coexist in a Black Hole. Light is “trapped” with darkness in a Black Hole. Light cannot escape. This is particularly astounding when you consider that Genesis states. …
“and God separated the light from the darkness” (Genesis 1:4).
Universal Heat Death
The same Author, who told us the Earth is round and that space is curled and stretched, also tells us that our universe is wearing out and will suffer a tremendous heat death.
“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the elements (atoms) will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed
…the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the elements will melt with intense heat” (2 Peter 3:10 12 NASB).
Author Outside of Time
Amazingly, the books of Job, Psalms, and Isaiah, written hundreds of years before the first century, do not contradict statements about prophecy or science in 2 Peter, written well into the 1st century. This is because the same author guided more than 40 prophets to write 66 books over a period of about 2,000 years.
On the other hand, my cousin Michael suggested we try to find just one current encyclopedia or textbook that agrees with itself over a period of even fifty years! “Not a fat chance!” he declared. “The Bible must have been written by an author who existed outside of time altogether. How else could it be so right through so many centuries?”
100 Year-old Textbooks
“So, then why do we use science textbooks that teach evolutionary-theory and other primitive ideas from the late 1800s and early 1900s?” Michael asked. “These are outdated theories over one-hundred years old! Darwin presented his theory in 1859. What other science textbooks teach as “fact” theories dating over a hundred years ago?” Mike suggested that we begin “to teach kids to question the validity of some of their textbooks. A.S.A.P.”
Tornado in a Junkyard
“Check this out,” Michael asserted: “This theory contradicts entropy laws, or the 2nd law of thermodynamics. All things are wearing down. They are not building-up and becoming more complex! Your wrist-watch breaks down and wears out. It does not evolve into an atomic-clock,” he explained. “This silly theory is like the tornado in a junkyard creating a jet-fighter airplane!” “How much sense would that make?” Michael asked.
Micro not Macro Evolution
“Besides,” Michael said, “while it’s clear that there is micro evolution, like the embryo developing into a human baby, or the micro evolution of plants and animals which adapt to different parts of the world, there is no “macro” evolution. Some plants adapt to hotter weather, some to cooler. But, there is no evidence of any species evolving into other species, like a dog into a cat.”
Dolly the Sheep
Michael continued, “this is why Dolly the Sheep could be cloned from mammary glands (that’s why they called her ‘Dolly,’ after the famous country-singer….well, you know what I mean). Dolly the sheep contained her complete blueprint in DNA harvested from her reproductive system, the mammary glands. There was nothing in her DNA to clone her into a dodo bird or a Persian cat!” (Mike had a terrific sense of humor)!
Big Bang Joke
One of Mike’s favorite jokes had to do with the Big Bang Theory:
In the Beginning, there was Nothing
And then it Exploded!

“This about sums up modern scientific theory,” quipped Mike.
“I really want my kids and grandkids to know this,” Mike sighed. “My life just got away from me before I had a chance to tell them these things. Some of them are in trouble and need to know this stuff.” “We know,” Ken and I told him. “We’ll do our best to pass it on. OK, buddy?” (We spent hours with Mike pouring over his views on science, prophecy, life after death, and the meaning of his shortened life on earth).
Divine Fingerprints
The Holy Spirit has left His fingerprints all over the Bible. Over a span of about 2,000 years, He has used consistent metaphors, illustrations, and wording which provide us with a tapestry of coherent prophecy and history. This demonstrates divine authorship outside of our space/time continuum.
Furthermore, recent news reports show fulfilled prophecies happening before our very eyes. Nations such as Russia, Israel, the EU, Middle East, and China seem to be playing out a preordained divine script written in the Bible thousands of years ago! (Missler, Prophecy 101).
Prophecy of a New Universe
For believing Christians and Jews, God promises an exciting new earth and solar system without violent storms, upheavals, illnesses, or death.
“But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth” (2 Peter 3:13).
Modern science fiction writers have had some keen insights into ideas such as these. Accordingly, you might want to begin the fun hobby of watching original Star Trek, Star Wars, and other good science fiction movies. Collect some of the better ones for your children and grandchildren. Gene Roddenberry’s original Star Trek stories demonstrate keen insights about space, time-warps, worm holes, and spiritual warfare. Writers like C.S. Lewis blend science fiction with theology in remarkable ways. Also, read books by Chuck Missler and then rent The Matrix, The 13th. Floor, and Jurassic Park among others. These are fascinating adventures containing kernels of truth.
For Star Trekkies
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea” (Revelation 21:1 NASB).
Our new earth will be a stable place because there is no sea or sun as we know it (Revelation 21:1 23). This may help to eliminate storms, radiation, aging, and cancers, among other things. Just imagine a world without hurricanes, tsunamis, tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, cancers, or premature aging.
A Space-City?
Christians and believing Jews will live in a “space” city which comes down upon the new earth, unimaginable in its striking, gem-like beauty and emanations of light (Revelation 21:2 11 18 19-21). For a preview, view Hubble Telescope photos revealing some of the brilliant colors in our universe. This is just a taste.
Dimensions
This New Jerusalem is 2,250,000 square miles! It is probably in the shape of a perfect cube although some surmise that it may be shaped like a pyramid.
“The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width and he measured the city with the rod, fifteen hundred miles its length and width and height are equal” (Revelation 21:16-17).
It will contain 3,375,000,000 cubic miles of space, according to some calculations.
Population
The New Jerusalem could contain enough room to provide for as many as one hundred thousand billion people according to Alcorn and Hitchcock. This is enough room for every believing man, woman, and child throughout the centuries of earth’s history. From our lovely home-base, we will be given rulership over cities, depending upon how well we carried out our stewardship here on earth (Luke 19:17).
Many Mansions
This gorgeous space-city is what Jesus promised for us. It is described in both the Old and New Testament. One well-known passage states that He is preparing “many mansions” for His followers.
“In My Father’s house are many mansions if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2 KJV).
New Super Bodies
Yeshua also promises us new, powerful physical bodies to live in our new earth and solar system. The Bible refers to our new bodies as “spiritual” bodies (1 Corinthians 15). However, the word “spiritual” does not mean “wispy” or “ethereal” or half-real. When the apostles were frightened, thinking they had seen a ghost when Jesus appeared to them, he said,
“See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have” (Luke 24:39 NASB).
Resurrection Seeds
Never forget that if humans can clone biological life forms, then God can surely resurrect you! Cloning is the ability to recreate a biological life-form from DNA found in cell tissue. The apostle Paul talks about the “seeds” of our new bodies in 1 Corinthians 15.
Although fallible scientists recreate or “clone” life-forms in their flawed state, these are cloned-beings without memory or learned traits. However, God promises to recreate us in perfection, power and glory! We will have intact memories, personalities, and familiar bodies. Yet, we will be like Yeshua, living in at least eleven dimensions!
“We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is” (1 John 3:2 NASB).
Superman
In other words, we will be able to see Him just as he is because we will be like Him. We will live in dimensions we do not yet have. We will “see” with a sight we do not yet possess. That’s why Michael loved this passage.
While on this earth, Mike enjoyed physical strength. He loved to surf or play sports. He even worked as a fire-fighter for several years. However, once he was diagnosed with a debilitating brain-cancer, Michael took consolation in the hope that he will one day possess a powerful body capable of powers never imagined on this earthly plane of existence. This is something we can all look forward to if we share his faith.
Neither Created nor Destroyed
Get ready for the best trip you’ve ever had to a new earth and new heaven after you are resurrected in a “super-cloned” body. Don’t worry about “pulverized” or lost DNA material due to cremation or other destructive forces, either. Remember that God easily commands our time both backwards and forwards. God created time.
Michael feels that God could resurrect you at age 20 in 1975, your earth time, if He so desires. Neither energy nor matter is destroyed. “If your energy or matter were completely destroyed, it would be the only exception in the entire universe!” Mike told us. “Matter and energy change form, but they aren’t destroyed.”
Upgraded Software & Box
That statement made us sit up and take notice! Most of us learned this in science class. We just never applied it to our lives. As Missler points out, software has no weight or mass. When we download software into a computer, the software may contain more information, run faster and better, and be more user-friendly. But, we can’t “measure it” or “see it” or “weigh it” on a postal scale. In a similar way, Missler maintains that we are all due for an “upgrade!” We are destined for new software and a new computer box! In other words, our matter (bodies) and energy (brainwaves) may change form. But, they are not destroyed.
All believers will move into the strange future “times” of a new universe in our new bodies and better functioning brains, if we have faith in the saving and resurrecting power of Yeshua. “Cool!”
Don’t Get Caught Unaware
One of Michael’s favorite verses was:
“As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will take His stand on the earth. Even after my skin is destroyed, yet from my flesh I shall see God Whom I myself shall behold, and whom my eyes shall see and not another” (Job 19:25-27).
“This is upfront and personal!” Mike stated. “Don’t find yourself rudely resurrected in front of God like an old, cloned cat waiting for your judgment! Be ready.” Michael warned that this verse suggests that men won’t stand before God in “cloned,” impersonal bodies. Rather, they will stand in judgment fully aware of whom and what they were, …“from my flesh I shall see God whom I myself shall behold, and whom my eyes shall see and not another.”
Puny IQs
Indeed. It’s better not to put your faith in intellectually-challenged, puny men who have IQs of 190 at best. They may seem smart to you. But, remember that man uses perhaps 10% of his brain at best, according to physiologists. On a universal sliding-scale, men don’t amount to much. So, forget arrogant men and women. Remember this the next time someone tries to flaunt their intelligence at your expense. They suffer from limited thinking and perspective.
Angels & Aliens
Angels, however, are theorized to have IQs of perhaps 100,000 given their known powers. Their known powers are many. Scripture tells us that angels have abilities to protect and guard men invisibly (Heb. 1:14), to be “shape-shifters” (like Balaam’s donkey), who look exactly like certain people (Acts 12:15), to fight hostile forces against believers, to help carry-out answers to our prayers (Daniel), to defend Israel and Jerusalem, to appear and disappear, or to destroy entire cities among other things (like in the story of Sodom & Gomorrah).

You might also consider the possibility that some angels, or “messengers,” may account for a few of the tales of “aliens” visiting our planet The IQ of angels (or aliens) appear to be far above man’s intelligence, although still finite. (Missler & Eastman, 1997).
Therefore, put your faith in God who has unlimited intelligence, and who created mankind’s ability to reason. Use the intelligence God gave you. Trust the One who inhabits eternity and who holds the keys of life for you.
“For thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit” (Isaiah 57:15 NKJV).
