WHO WERE THE NEPHILIM?

Goliath was a Nephilim. The Nephilim, mentioned in Genesis 6:1-4 as offspring of the “sons of God” and “daughters of men,” are described as mighty warriors and men of renown, often interpreted as giants. In the Book of Enoch (particularly the Book of the Watchers), they are the hybrid children of fallen angels called Watchers—who descended to earth, lusted after human women, and married them—producing violent, enormous beings who devoured resources, ate humans and animals, and spread corruption, contributing to pre-Flood wickedness.

These giants, sometimes said to reach heights of 12-15 feet tall, taught forbidden knowledge through their angelic fathers but ultimately led to divine judgment: the Flood destroyed them, while their spirits became evil demons roaming the earth, per Enoch’s expansion of the biblical account.
