Rulers On Earth – Ruling In Heaven

Rulers on Earth – The Good, Bad and Ugly

What’s wrong with our governors, mayors and leaders in America today?

Why does Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer forbid buying seeds for a garden? Why does Governor Newsom in California meet with friends and family at a fancy French restaurant while “plebian” citizens are confined to their homes? How about New York’s Governor Cuomo sending sick Covid-19 patients to nursing homes where our frail elderly are exposed to a disease that may kill them?

This isn’t unique to the United States, either. Consider Australia’s abuse of a full term pregnant woman who frantically cried out as she was hauled away. Her crime? She had posted a mild protest against wearing masks on Facebook. We see similar behaviors by police in Canada, France, England and many other countries. What gives?

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn once wrote,

“If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?” (The Gulag Archepelago).

Sadly, you and I are not exempt from becoming power-hungry elitists ourselves.

How do we know? Because back in the 1960’s, just three months after German Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann went to trial, a Yale University psychologist conducted experiments that prove we are all vulnerable to abuse of authority.

The psychologist instituted social psychology experiments measuring how cooperative we are to follow distasteful orders from authority figures. In that particular experiment, as long as authoritarian men wearing white labcoats gave orders to shock participants in adjacent rooms, subjects continued to carry out their orders even when they suspected those shocks could maim or kill someone.

Not enough to prove anything? Well, the 1960’s Milgram Experiment was repeated in 2009. Same results. Tell that to an atheist friend who declares, “I’m not a sinner.” Right…

Have you ever wondered why Jesus is returning to earth and will grant his followers the right to “reign with Christ?”

Yes, several biblical texts state that “if we endure, we will also reign with Him.” We will be “priests of God and of Christ” and we will ‘reign with him for a thousand years…over the nations” (2 Tim. 2:12; Rev. 20:6; 2:26).

Think about it. It’s no wonder that the current spiritual rulers and earthly authorities resent us and want to destroy Christians, churches and our bibles. Christians are destined to replace current spiritual and worldly authorities when Christ returns to set up his Kingdom on earth. Given all of the fulfilled biblical prophecies occurring now, this may be soon! Possibly within a decade!

But, don’t mistakenly think that Christ is replacing evil leaders with Christians because we are “good.” No, we will be transformed into the likeness of Christ and liberated from our sinful nature that hinders us today (Ro. 8:29; 8:18-23; 1 Cor. 15:42-58). It is then that we are qualified to rule alongside Christ. As the late Chuck Missler put it, “we are due for a software upgrade.”

Consider that we are training for reigning with the King of the Universe as we struggle to cope with daily trials, pain and mistreatment. We want to finish our lives with, “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith” (2 Tim. 4:7). The “sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us” (Ro. 8:18).

Hallelujah!
