Q. I read some of your articles on life after death. But, I still don’t understand how our soul is like software or anything else we know of here on earth. Can you explain what you mean?
Answer:
This is a fascinating question and explores what is really the nature of “you” or “me.” In other words, what is it exactly that defines us?
Worldwide Communications
Maybe another illustration will help. Worldwide communications offer examples for us. In instruments of communication there is a constant exchange of information through electromagnetic fields for the internet, television, radio, and cell phones.
Internet not “Inside” Computer
When you turn on your laptop computer to go online, for example, you won’t find the internet inside your computer box. Instead, the computer box decodes the electronic information into print for you to read. When you turn on your radio, the voices or music does not come from the box itself. Rather, the radio box contains circuits and hardware which decode the radio waves into audible sounds. The voice we hear over the telephone does not come from the plastic telephone. Instead, the phone and receiver contains electronic circuitry which decodes electronic information so that we hear the sound.
Disconnected Info
When we turn off the T.V. or radio, the reception we hear or see disappears. But, that does not mean the radio waves or electronic images go away. They are still there bombarding us daily within electromagnetic fields around us. They travel through buildings, cars, and bodies all the time – day and night. The connection to decode them may be gone. But, you can establish that connection again by using another computer, radio, phone, or T.V.
Brain-Box
Neurologists and quantum physicists say that our brain is similar to the TV set, a TV camera, a radio, and a computer, combined. Our brains, just like the TV set, receive electromagnetic waves and decode them into images and sound. We are also like the TV camera which transforms images and sound into electromagnetic waves. All of this electromagnetic radiation holds the information. But, we can only perceive it or understand it when it is decoded through the brain, through a TV, on the computer, or through a radio.
“We” are Electromagnetic Fields – Software
Our consciousness and memories which have evolved during our lifetimes exist around us in electromagnetic fields. “We” are electromagnetic fields or “software.” They become available to our conscious state through the electronic circuitry and hardware that exists in our brains and bodies.
When our bodies die, the information is still out there. The electromagnetic fields are still there. They just don’t have their own, individual brains and bodies to work in. The receptivity is lost and the connection is interrupted, but the information is still there waiting for a new box – whether a computer, radio, or tailor-made brain and body to house your “information” and consciousness.
Due for an Upgrade
The whole point of 1 Corinthians chapter 15 is to tell us that all believers are due for an upgrade – complete with a new box (our bodies) for this fantastic new software (our untainted-by-sin minds)!
“Not all of us will die, but we will all be transformed…the Christians who have died will be raised with transformed bodies. And then we who are living will be transformed so that we will never die” (1 Cor. 15:51-53, NLT).
Matter & Energy neither Created nor Destroyed
Even after we die and are technically “brain dead,” the information is still out there in electromagnetic fields. In other words, our consciousness and our “souls,” that part of us containing our memories, thoughts, words and deeds, is still out there. It hasn’t disappeared into nothingness. This is partly what is meant by the scientific law specifying that “matter and energy can be neither created nor destroyed.”
Every Word, Thought & Deed Evaluated
This provides a chilling reality to three facts proposed by the Bible:
1.Every word you speak will be judged.
2.Every thought you think will be judged.
3.Everything you do will be judged.
The Bible tells us these three facts here:
Words
Matthew 12:36: “Every careless word that people speak they shall give an accounting for it in the Day of Judgment.
Thoughts
Romans 2:15-16: …“they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.”
Deeds
2 Corinthians 5:10: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”
Get it Together
Because of the eternal nature of our electromagnetic fields containing our speech, thoughts, deeds, and memories in our “souls” and consciousness – I guess we need to “get our act together” today! It’s urgent…
